Match ReportSutton Heath U11s v Chantry 27 Mar 2010The Scorpions completed their season with a last home game up at Oak Hill against already promoted Chantry.
Despite being short of a couple of regulars the A team battled really hard against a very good Chantry side. In what was to prove a largely rearguard action the A team did have their chances in both halves of the match but the better side won the day.
At half time we were 0 - 0 and very much in the game but a second half onslaught from the Grasshoppers finally produced a chink in our armour when a shot from the edge of the box found its way into the net. Even then we still had our moments and some good passing play set up a couple of openings that could have led to goals. In the end Chantry struck again to put the match beyond us but even then the team kept battling away.
Chantry were made to fight every inch of the way as the Scorpions turned in their most resilient and hard working display of the season. To a man (sorry Georgia!) they contested every ball and never gave up for one minute and to only lose 2 - 0 was a tribute to how hard they worked for each other. Luke took Man of the Match but there were 6 others out there on the day who would have been equally deserving. They can all be very proud of their efforts today.
The B team were not quite so resilient as the A's and disappointingly did not compete anywhere near well enough in the first half. This resulted in a 4 - 0 half time deficit which killed the game as a contest.
However the second half was a much improved performance and although we conceded a couple more goals the boys battled much harder and worked together better as a team. As it turned out we had a lot more of the play in the second half and created a few openings that really should have led to goals. Getting things moving up front created greater self belief in our ability to compete with Chantry and as a result we were far more competitive in every area of the field. It would have been interesting to see what the result would have been had we started off in a similar vein.
6 - 0 was a disappointing result but at one stage it looked like it was going to be very much worse than that. It was to the boys' great credit that they did not let the match descend into an annihilation and they worked hard to restore their sense of self-pride in the second half. Man of the Match went to Sam P for a great display in his comeback after injury. Well done to all though for their second half display.
Match ReportSutton Heath U11s v Kirton 20 Mar 2010Both Scorpion teams were in wasteful mood on Saturday as they squandered loads of chances in their respective games against Kirton.
The A team played some good football at times against Kirton but defensive lapses and an inability to hit the target when it mattered cost it dearly. Ordinarily a 5 - 0 defeat would be indicative of a one sided contest but this was not the case on Saturday. Seven times we found ourselves in 1 on 1's with the keeper and yet somehow failed to find the net on any occasion.
At the other end of the field defensive mistakes led to three of Kirton's goals with the other two being preventable had we defended with a bit more resilience.
All told this was a frustrating game as to lose by such a high margin was not a fair indication of how the team played. However if you don't score and you don't defend properly then you are in for a disappointing result. Man of the Match went to Rob for a good display in midfield.
The B team were equally wasteful although they did at least hit the back of the net three times - two good strikes and one fluke that was reward for at least getting the shot on target. Unfortunately the defensive frailties that became evident last week at Bacton continued into this week and proved more costly as twice Kirton came from behind to claim a share of the points.
After the shock of conceding an early goal we gradually became the better side in the first half and a good move involving Jack and Kye ended up with Luke placing his shot in the corner of the net. Luke grabbed a second a few minutes later when the Kirton keeper mishandled his shot and let it slip into the net.
2 - 1 up at half time soon became 2 -2 as we let Kirton back into the game. A lovely bit of play involving Bix and Luke saw Kye away through on goal and he duly restored our lead. Further chances followed but we were made to pay for squandering these when Kirton equalised with a few minutes to go. Both sides could have won it in the time remaining but at the end a draw was probably a fair result.
Again we looked very good going forward but our lazy streak in defending too often meant that we were outnumbered at the back. Hence a well deserved Man of the Match to Harry who too often was called upon to rescue a desperate situation - albeit often with the able assistance of Josh who also put in a good shift at the back.
Match ReportSutton Heath U11s v Bacton 13 Mar 2010For the second week running both Scorpion teams were short on numbers with the A team being the more adversely hit of the two sides.
In the A team encounter the loss of some key players and a pretty poor performance led to a fairly catastrophic 7 - 0 defeat. Bacton were the better side by far and deserved to win but some poor defending from the whole team certainly helped their cause.
This is one of those matches when the least said the better probably. Again the effort was there but we made so many basic errors that we contributed as much to our downfall as the opposition. Man of the match went to Georgia who battled hard throughout the game.
The B team only had 6 players available but we were able to borrow Chay from the A team for the first half and then thanks to Bacton's spirit of fair play borrow Georgia and Luke for 10 minutes each in the second half.
This was an altogether different game and apart from two silly spells midway through both halves we were in complete control throughout the match. Chay and Bix got the first couple of goals with finishes that relied more on persistence than finesse before Jack S helped himself to a couple of goals. There then followed a really silly 5 minutes when we switched off completely and allowed the home side to score tw0 very soft goals.
Turning round 4 - 2 up with only 6 men we were up against it for a while before Bacton's generosity allowed us to restore parity of numbers. With playing numbers matched again we went on to dominate the match and further goals from Bix, Georgia and two for Harry ensured a comfortable win. However we were all too often very loathed to come back and defend and as a consequence did briefly let the home side back into the game at 5 - 3 before finally settling the issue 8 - 3.
Overall we looked very good going forward but we have got to get this lazy streak out of our game. It was great to see Harry get himself a brace but Man of the Match went to Jack S for two smart goals and a good attacking display from the midfield.
Match ReportSutton Heath U11s v Claydon 6 Mar 2010Both Scorpion teams were badly depleted in this encounter with Claydon and despite hard work by all the boys were unable to overcome the loss of so many players.
The A team borrowed George and Luke from the B team and both boys did really well against a vastly improved Claydon side. On a bitterly cold day with a cross wind making it difficult to judge the flight of the ball sometimes both teams played some good football. Chances were created at either end and at 0 - 0 at half time we were very much in the game.
The second half started badly though and conceding the early goal put fresh heart into the opposition. Gradually we did come back into the game but two late goals finished us off.
The boys battled really hard and credit to everyone for a good effort. Man of the match went to George who did really well in a strange role in a new team.
The B team game was a forfeit as we only had 5 regular players and so A team players had to take turns to make up the numbers. The cohesion of the team was upset as a result of player and positional changes and although we had a lot of the game we were always playing catch up with a smart Claydon team.
Twice during the match we came from behind, a first half equaliser from Bix making it 1 - 1 at half time and a second half equaliser from George bringing us back up to 2 - 2 before two further goals from Claydon took the scoring to its 2 - 4 conclusion.
Again it was a hard working display from the boys and no one can fault their commitment on a day when Oak Hill served to remind us how little there is between us and Siberia! Man of the Match went to Bix for a well deserved goal and some good play during the match.
Match Report
Sutton Heath U11s v Whitton
Utd Home 13 Feb 2010
Both Scorpion teams were on the receiving end of identical
results in similar fashion against top of the table Whitton.
Although enjoying bright starts neither side capitalised on
their early openings and once our opponents got into their stride we were
unable to stay with them. The 5 - 1 score lines did not flatter the visitors
who were quicker, sharper, stronger and more determined in every department.
Their passing was slick and incisive and all too often we relied upon our
goalkeepers or last ditch tackles to keep the score lines down to something
like a respectable level.
Kieran scored the A team's consolation with a deflected shot
and Kye scrambled home the sole response for the B team. Both Chay and Sam in
goal performed heroics and special mention to Harry P in the B team who put in
a hard-working and brave display. Man of the Match awards went to Chay for the
A team and Luke for the B's.
This was a "bad day at the office" for both teams
and probably the less said about it the better. The effort was there but all
too often it was misdirected today. Hopefully we can learn from our mistakes
and be better for it in time for the next league game.
Match Report
Sutton Heath U11s v Martlesham Youth Away 6 Feb 2010
The two Scorpion teams enjoyed contrasting fortunes in this league fixture against near neighbours Martlesham.
The A team huffed and puffed against a determined Martlesham team who proved better organised and more cohesive than we did. Their passing and support play was far sharper than ours and although we enjoyed some good spells in the game we never really looked like getting a result. Things might have been different had an early chance that fell to Rob gone in but once we fell behind there really only looked one winner.
The first goal was cruel though being an unfortunate, if somewhat spectacular own goal by LB. Another followed right on the stroke of half time when the Martlesham forward turned our defence and rifled home.
We soon fell further behind in the second half before rallying somewhat to see out the half without conceding any further goals. LB came closest to pulling one back with a crisp shot that was well saved by the keeper.
This was a disappointing team display and although we tried very hard we were well beaten. Man of the match went to Georgia for a great defensive display.
The B team game was the reverse of the A team match with the Scorpions turning in the better team display. Martlesham were never quite on their game and we turned in another sound display that produced a solid 4 - 0 win.
Kye opened our account latching on to a nice through ball from Luke before rounding the keeping and sliding the ball home. Jack S also got in on the act soon after, finishing off a good move with a rasping shot that the keeper could not handle. More opportunities came our way but we had to content ourselves with the 2 - 0 half time lead.
As always in these situations the next goal was going to be crucial and thankfully a great save from Sam ensured that it was not going to go to the hosts. George, Harry and Joshua were all called upon too to ensure we kept things tight at the back for a while. Gradually we reasserted control and a goal mouth melee resulted in James adding to our tally with a deflected shot. Bix finished off the scoring with a simple tap in after smart work by Luke on the left hand side.
This was another fine B team display and we were good value for our victory. Man of the match went to Josh for a good performance that kept everything tight at the back and so gave us a solid platform from which to attack.
Match ReportSutton Heath U11s v Trimley Red Devils U11s Away 23 Jan 2010Both teams resumed league duties after a long layoff and turned in superb displays against Trimley.
The A team game was a closely fought affair with both sides having chances. We started off brightly and opened up the home defence on a few occasions but could not find the accuracy that would have broken the deadlock. JJ, Oliver and Rob making his A team debut, all had chances but were unable to convert them. Gradually TRD came more and more into the game and Chay ably assisted by LB, Kieran, and Georgia had to be on their toes to keep out the hosts. Ironically it was one of Trimley's attacks that led to our goal as Kieran made a superb headed clearance that he followed up before feeding the ball through to the breaking midfield. The ball was worked quickly to JJ who found the net with a crisp finish. TRD responded strongly and a superb long range shot a few minutes later powered over Chay's head and into the net.
The second half saw us edge the possession but again we could not find the finish to match our approach play. Kieran hit the post but that was the closest we came to breaking the deadlock and in the end we had to settle for the draw.
This was an excellent game, played by two evenly matched sides and overall a one - one draw was probably a fair result. Given the long winter break we have had the team deserve a lot of credit for their performance. Man of the match went to JJ for a strong performance and a good goal but well done to everyone, particularly Rob who fitted in really well to the A team.
The B team turned in an awesome display that belittled their extended break.
Right from the kick off we got into our stride and the passing between players was crisp, incisive and a real pleasure to watch. The movement off the ball was excellent at times and poor TRD could do little to stem the tide. The first goal came following a lovely move involving the defence and the midfield with the final pass from Sam being a clear invite to Kye to come in and score. Never one to miss up an opportunity like that Kye duly obliged with smart finish. More chances followed and the second goal was inevitable. Again a lovely move saw Kye apply the finishing touch. TRD briefly rallied and Sam in goal, Harry and Luke in defence had to react sharply to keep our goal intact. This snuffed out any chance of a home come back and a goal right on half time by Sam P. following a great cross by Jack just about wrapped things up.
The second half started well for the home side but another goal for the scorpions soon dispelled any hopes of a revival. Kye completed his hat-trick and went on to score a fourth with two for Bix and one each for Jack S and Luke completing the rout. TRD did get one goal in the second half which was well deserved as they never gave up.
Few sides would have lived with the B team today and to a man they were excellent. The quality of our passing at times was outstanding and 9 - 1 did not flatter us at all. Man of the match went to George for a superb exhibition of the midfield holding role, absolutely solid as a rock.
Match Report
Sutton Heath U11s v Whitton U11s Away 28 Nov 2009Both teams put in really good performance against division 2 high flyers Whitton Utd.
Once again the A team started off sluggishly against a good Whitton side whose movement was causing us a lot of problems. Two goals from quick break aways and a couple of near misses made it look like a very hard morning was in prospect for the A side. However gradually as the first half wore on we began to look more like it and the midfield combined well on a few occasions to create half chances. Sadly the home goalkeeper was in good form and despite a couple of anxious moments he was able to keep a clean sheet up until the half time break.
Turning around 2 - 0 down we pressed forward with even more purpose in the second half and became the better side. JJ and Oliver both went very close on a couple of occasions and the keeper came to Whitton's rescue more than once. Eventually our pressure paid off and a good move ended up with Oliver netting his first goal for the A's. As time ticked away we threw everyone including the keeper into attack and paid the penalty with a counter attack that ended in a goal that sealed a 3 - 1 win for the greens.
This was a 100% improvement on the last game and the team deserve a lot of credit for their performance. Man of the match went to Georgia for a solid display against some skilful opponents but well done to everyone.
The B team came up against a very strong and lively Whitton team who showed a lot of skill and strength throughout the game. However the team rose to the occasion and gave as good as they got for large parts of the match.
We started off very brightly and a good move down our left hand side ended in Rob putting over a great cross for Jack S to volley home. This stung the greens into action and they attacked with great resolve down both flanks. More than once Sam in goal came to our rescue but he was powerless to do anything about a thumping shot that flew in from the edge of the box. Worse was to follow soon after when we failed to clear our lines properly and a rather flukish looping shot dipped under the bar and into the net.
Thus it was 2 - 1 at half time and although we tried really hard in the second half we could not quite get the equaliser our play deserved. Defensively we were more solid and up front Luke, Kye, Robert and Jack S all had half chances that they could not quite put away. As time wore on the home side became increasingly anxious but in the end they just held on to the three points.
So the B's came away empty handed which was harsh as they played really well against a very good side. Another excellent team performance though capped by Sam's display in goal which earned him man of the match. Well done to everyone again though.
Match ReportSutton Heath U11s v Bacton U11s Home 7 Nov 2009The A and B teams enjoyed contrasting fortunes in this fixture against Bacton.
The A team started off sluggishly against a lively Bacton side who took only a few minutes to take advantage of some sloppy defending to take an early lead. Despite having a lot of the subsequent play we never really tested the visitor's goalkeeper and silly mistakes continued to dog our efforts. It was a lack of the basics that were really hurting us and a series of errors led to Bacton's second goal towards the end of the half.
Turning around 2 - 0 down we took the game to the opposition and looked better but bad marking at the far post let in Bacton for a killer third goal. From then onwards we started to improve and probably should have scored but Bacton deserved to keep a clean sheet and were good value for their win.
"A bad day at the office" as they say and hopefully one that we can learn from. No one really stood out today so no man of the match was awarded.
The B team carried on where they left off despite a three week lay-off and tore into the visitors right from the first whistle. Within minutes two good moves were finished off by Kye and Sam respectively and further chances fell as we looked for a third. At the other end Bacton to their credit kept pressing and Harry in particular stood out to keep everything tight in defence.
Turning round two goals to the good we took charge completely in the second half and goals fell at regular intervals to the Scorpions. Luke was first finishing off some good work from Rob, Jack S scored a brace with two good strikes and Bix got his name on the score sheet with a well taken solo effort. It finished up at 6 - 0 thanks to some good goal keeping that prevented us adding to our tally.
Once again the boys attitude was first class and their team work and industry was equally outstanding. Bacton tried really hard but were no match for our boys in this form. Man of the match went to Harry P for his solid performance at the back but once again everyone deserves credit for a fine display.
Match ReportSutton Heath U11s v Kirton Kestrels U11s Home 17 Oct 2009Both teams got back to winning ways with two good wins over the Kestrels.
The A team had to work really hard against a very lively Kirton who in fairness deserved more from the game than they got. In the first half we rode our luck on a few occasions with Chay making some notable saves and Kieran coming to the rescue with a great goal-line clearance. However as the game wore on we got more and more into the match and started to create more openings for ourselves. From one of these the goalkeeper failed to hold on to a snap shot from JJ and James was on hand to score his first goal for the A team.
With a 1 - 0 lead to defend as we turned into the wind for the second half we were again pegged back but Kirton were denied by the frame of the goal twice. Having survived these scares we went on to again look likely to score and great work by JJ resulted in a superb cross that Tommo nodded into the goal. This second goal gave us the impetus to push on but we could not get a killer third goal and Kirton's luck eventually changed as they finally got the goal their play had deserved. However despite a couple of half chances towards the end we held out to record a much needed win.
This was a triumph of effort and will power over finesse as the team battled hard to get the result. Man of the match went to JJ for an outstanding effort but well done to all the players.
The B team came back from the shock of conceding in the first minute to record a resounding win over a Kestrels side that tried hard. Unfortunately for the visitors despite enjoying a lot of the play, particularly in the first half, they came up against a Scorpion side playing at their very best. Within 5 minutes of being a goal down two well taken goals by Jack S had turned the score line around and we never really looked back from there. Further chances fell to both sides in the first half but no further goals followed so the half ended 2 -1 to us.
The second half saw us take control of the match as we played some lovely football. Playing with pace and zip the boys moved the ball well and carved out a number of openings. First Luke got on the end of a good move that started with George, carried on through Sam P, and Kye before a lovely pass from Kye set up Luke to hammer home. Rob then got in on the act with a thumping shot that gave the keeper no hope and Sam P too helped himself to a scrambled goal to make it 5 -1. Rob finished off the scoring with a slick shot that was helped over the line by the Kestrel's defender as he tried to clear.
The boys attitude was first class today and their effort and pace was equally good. They combined this with some great passing football that was a joy to watch and 6 - 1 was good reward for an outstanding performance. There were 10 men of the match performances today but in the end only one medal could be awarded and so that went to Jack S for one of his best ever matches for us. Well done everyone...KEEP IT UP!
Match Report
Sutton Heath Scorpions v Chantry Grasshoppers Away 10/10/09The A team game was a classic “game of two halves” with the Scorpions turning in a Jekyll and Hyde performance that resulted in a heavy defeat against a good Chantry side. The first half was not one of our better performances and goals were conceded at pretty regular intervals resulting in a 4 – 0 advantage to the home side at the break. The annoying thing was that we had enjoyed as much possession as our opponents but all too often gave the ball away cheaply.
The second half was a much better performance and we were very unlucky to concede right at the death to lose 5 – 0 as we certainly were not five goals inferior to our hosts. However despite a lot of good play in this half and despite creating two or three really good opportunities we failed to score and so make the result a bit more respectable.
In the end we have to take our beating and learn that we need to be much sharper and quicker from the outset of the match. Man of the match went to Chay who played well in goal and made some very good saves.
The B team turned in a really good performance but for the second time on the trot against Chantry they have come away empty handed despite being the better side.
The first half was an even contest with both sides creating chances and going close. Gradually as the half progressed we began to look more comfortable on the ball and more than capable of getting a goal. This came towards the end of the half when a really good move involving all of the midfield culminating in Kye tucking the ball away from the edge of the box to gives us a half time lead.
Chantry came out hard in the second half but after a couple of scares we began to take control and really should have doubled our lead with some clear cut chances. Unfortunately near misses count for nothing and in the last five minutes the home side found two goals from somewhere to win the game. A bitter blow for our guys who had really deserved more from the game but we have to take our chances when they come our way.
Well done though to everyone and if we play like this in future matches we will get the results we deserve. Man of the match went to James for an outstanding display at the back.
Match ReportSutton Heath U11s v Hadleigh U11s Home 3 Oct 2009The Scorpions' interest in this year's cup competition lasted just the one match as both teams were comprehensively beaten by a good looking Hadleigh side.
The A team gamely held out till midway through the second half thanks mainly to some outstanding goalkeeping by Luke and some good defending. Up front we had nothing really going for us despite a lot of hard work from all the players and in the end it was only a matter of time before the visitors took the lead. A couple of scrappy goals were complimented by two well worked goals and 4 - 0 was no more than the visitors deserved.
Man of the match went to Luke for a great display in goal but well done to all for sticking with it right to the end. We came up against a good team and can now see the benchmark we should be aiming at.
The B team were equally hard pressed by a lively Hadleigh side and despite enjoying a little bit more of the play in the opposition half than the A team were unable to really test their goalkeeper. A goal right on half time put Hadleigh in front and from there they did not really look back. The second half saw further goals come Hadleigh's way as they pulled out a 3 - 0 lead before Kye pegged one back with a very well placed shot. A goal in the last minute underlined Hadleigh's superiority and the result was a fair one.
Man of the Match went to Oliver who made an impressive debut for the reds.
Match Report
Sutton Heath U11s v Martlesham U11s Home 26 Sept 2009Once again the Scorpions found themselves involved in two close encounters this time against our near neighbours Martlesham.
The A team game was a fairly even affair with Martlesham enjoying a lot of the play in the first half but only having the one goal to show for it when we failed to deal with a throw in properly. Gradually though as the first half wore on we came more and more into the game and deserved our equaliser when a shot from JJ squirmed under the keeper. Another shot by JJ hit the back of the net more resoundingly right on half time to give the boys a 2 - 1 lead.
The second half was dominated by the Scorpions for the first 15 minutes but we failed to take our chances and slack defending again led to Martlesham equalising. Sadly heads dropped and instead of battling to the finish we rather fell apart and succumbed to a late winner when again we failed to deal with a corner properly.
Man of the match went to LB for a great display in a good team effort that just let itself down by some sloppy play at crucial times.
Some old habits reappeared for the B team on Saturday with not enough players putting in a full shift to make it look likely that we would get a result.
The first half was often one way traffic and it was no surprise when the hard working Martlesham side pulled out a two goal lead. However the boys did put a spell together when they all started playing for each other and during this period we looked very good. Jack S pulled one back to give us something to play for in the second half.
We started off quite brightly in the second half but increasingly the team became polarised with two sets of players operating in separate halves of the field with very little linking play in between. All hope of getting something out of the game was extinguished with about 5 minutes to go when Martlesham got their third. Jack S did stretch their goalkeeper with a good free kick but it was too little too late in the end.
Hopefully we've got this game out of our system and will come back stronger next week.
Match Report
Sutton Heath U11s v Trimley Red Devils U11s Home 19 Sept 2009The Scorpions enjoyed two excellent games against a lively, Red Devils' team.
The A team encounter was a real nip and tuck affair with both sides enjoying spells of dominance. Chances were created at either end of the field and both Chay in our goal and his opposite number were kept busy throughout a highly entertaining match. It was Trimley who drew first blood with a well constructed move that opened up the right side of our defence before a good finish saw the ball nestling in the back of the Scorpions' net. Sutton battled back strongly and Tommo was rewarded for his persistence during a goal-mouth melee when he forced the ball over the line at the third time of asking.
The second half was a repeat of the first and once again it was Trimley who struck the first blow. A corner that nearly resulted in a goal for Kieran ended up with a fast Red Devils' breakaway leading to their second goal. The Scorpions pushed hard looking for an equaliser and were rewarded when a snap shot by Tommo looped over the goalie's head and into the net. Both teams went desperately close to winning it in the closing stages but in the end 2 - 2 was a fair result.
Man of the match went to Harry T for a hard working midfield display. Overall though a good performance from the team and an improvement on last week.
The B team game was a carbon copy of the first match with both sides creating chances at either end of the field. Sam C making his league debut in goal for the Scorpions was perhaps the busier of the two keepers and on a couple of occasions in the first half he had to be brave to deal with 1 on 1 situations. Luke hung up his A team goalie gloves for this game and came closest to scoring for the Scorpions in a first half that finished 0 - 0.
The second half was equally close and the first goal was going to be crucial. Despite a few scares in goal, ably dealt with by Sam, the breakthrough came the Scorpions' way midway through the half. Luke created space for himself on the edge of the box before curling in a left foot shot that gave the keeper no hope. Within a few minutes 1 - 0 became 2 - 0 with a smart finish from Kye and although Sam had to make a couple more good saves the Scorpions were able to see out the game to win.
Man of the Match went to Sam for an outstanding display in goal but special mention to Harry P who had a very good game in defence. Pleasingly this was another improved performance against a good side and the boys did well to come out on top.
Match Report
Sutton Heath U11s v Claydon U11s Away 12 Sept 2009The Scorpions got off to a good start to the season with two hard fought wins against Claydon.
In the A team, we got off to a good start and always looked strong going forward. However defensively we left a bit to be desired, all too often leaving ourselves exposed to dangerous counter attacks from a lively Claydon side. The first goal was going to be important and in the end we were fortunate to score from a JJ corner that took a big deflection as it found its way into the net.
Turning round one up the A team continued to look good going forward and good linking play between JJ and Tommo ended up with Tommo thumping the ball home to give us a two goal cushion. Chances came and went at both ends but the final word went to Harry T with the deftest of headers into the bottom corner of the net to give us a somewhat flattering 3 - 0 win.
Man of the match went to Kieran for some great defensive work as well as some lively attacking play.
The B team got off to great start in their match with Kye finishing smartly after good work by Jack Summers. Jack then proceeded to hit the bar from long range before another shot of his was parried out by the keeper straight into Sam P's path who gleefully stuck it home. We then made the fatal mistake of sitting back and allowing Claydon back into the game. There then followed an anxious spell during which Claydon pulled a goal back from a corner and should have scored at least one other goal.
However the team held out till half time where a bit of regrouping ensured that we were a lot tighter in the second half. There were still a few near misses along the way before George started a move deep in our own half which proceeded to flow through Kye to Jack S whose floated cross was finished superbly on the volley by Sam P. A quality goal which sealed victory by 3 goal to 1.
Man of the Match went to George who played well in the centre of the team.
